Last September 22nd, NTQ Solution won 2nd prize in the “VAIPE: Medicine Pill Image Recognition Challenge” contest to find and develop AI algorithms for recognizing valid drug names from drug images.

The contest is organized by Smart Medical Center VinUni-Illinois, International Research Center for AI BKAI, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, and VnExpress e-newspaper. It is in a series of AI Summit AI4VN 2022 – one of Vietnam’s leading prestigious science events. The concept of AI4VN 2022 is “AI – Recovering the economy, Shaping the future” to help the community and companies know more about AI technology and how it changes the world.This year, the contest requires candidates to develop an application to recognize medicines for users. The developing time is from July 15th to August 31st, 2022. 160 teams participated in the contest. Only 15 teams were selected to join the 2nd round. After that, the five teams would step to the 3rd round – presenting the solution. Based on the results from the 2nd round and creativity in the solution, the board of organizers will decide top three teams.

“One and a half months to design this solution is challenging with the AI team. Not only researching and innovating to develop an efficient solution, but we also met many obstacles, including data interference, similar medicine images that are complex for AI to recognize, and various kinds of medicine. We spent most of the time in the company developing the solution with the best result. We are delighted with this achievement and will dedicate ourselves to delivering better products”, Mr. Nguyen Van Nha – NTQ’s senior AI engineer, said.

This remarkable achievement proves NTQ Solution’s technical competency, especially the AI team.
